After that, Ahmad ibn Matrub al-Habasi, a learned faqih had in Du Asraq close to Ibb, among his disciples, a certain Ahmad ibn Al-Mazakban from the island of Maqdisu (Mogadishu) in the land of the Blacks….

Another safitische faqih, Yusuf b. Abdallah al-Muzakki, was the mudarris (teacher) in Kalguer, also in the land of Habash (north Somalia)

 This small anecdote about a student of a safitisch faqih coming from Mogadishu is important as it is among the first mentions of the town. The next one is Yakut (1220).
