In Yong Le 7, Eunuch Zheng He (21), WangJing Hong (22), Hou Xian (23) et al commanding a fleet of 27,000 soldiers and officers

and forty-seven ships, carried expensive gifts bestowed by the Imperial Court and traveled through various foreign countries in the South East and the West Oceans In September of that year, the fleet departed from Tai Cang Liu Jia Port (1).

It visited the Zhang Cheng Kingdom (2), Lin Shang (3), Kun Lun Shang (24), the Bing Tong Long Kingdom (25), the Zheng Da Kingdom (26), the Xian Lou Kingdom (4), Jia Ma Li Ding (27), Jiao Lang Shang, Zhao Wa Kingdom (17), Jiu Gang (5) ChongJia Luo (19), Ji Li Di Meng, the Man Ci Jia Kingdom (18), Ma Yin Dong, Peng Keng (6) , Dong Xi Zhu (15), Long Yua Jia Miao, Jiu Zhou Shang, A Lu (20), DangYang, Su Men Da La (7), Hua Miang Wang, Long Yu, Cui Feng Yu, Xi Lang Shang (8), Liu Shang Yang, Da Ge Lang (9), A Zhi Guo, Bang Ke Ci (28), Pu La Wa (10), Zhubu (10), Mu Gu Du Dong (10), Ci Sa, the Zuo Fa Er Kingdom (11), Hu Lu Mo Si (12), Tian Fang (13), Okinawa (14), the San Dou Kingdom, the Ni Kingdom, and the Su Lu Kingdom (16). The trip ended upon the emperor's order on August 15, Yong- Le 22.

 

Note; from this text (early mention of Mogadishu) some scholars concluded that East Africa was already reached

during the third voyage of Zheng He.

(1) Tai Cang Liu Jia Port: Taicang is a satellite city of Shanghai; Liu Jia is its port.

(2) Zhang Cheng Kingdom: Champa

(3) Lin Shang: Sri Lanka

(4) the Xian Lou Kingdom: 暹羅 Xianluo; Short for 暹羅斛/暹罗斛 (as recorded in the History of Ming), which was a combined name for two states in modern-day Thailand.

(5) Jiugang [Palembang].

(6) Pengkeng (Penang?)

(7) Sumendala [Sumatra].

(8) Xilanshan [Sri Lanka].

(9) Da Ge Lang: Southwest India Dagelan (大葛)

(10) Pu La Wa, Zhubu, Mu Gu Du Dong : Brava, Jub, Mogadishu all on the East African coast.

(11) Zuo Fa Er Kingdom: Dhofar in Oman

(12) Hulumosi (Hormuz)

(13) Tian Fang: Mecca

(14) Okinawa: in Japan

(15) Dongxizhu (东西竺) Aur Island of Malaysia

(16) Su Lu Kingdom. (苏禄) is a South Asian country near Sumatra.

(18) Man Ci Jia Kingdom: Manlajia (Malacca),

(19) ChongJia Luo: Chong Jia Luo, Sumbawa Indonesia

(21) Zheng He:郑和 (1371 – 1433 or 1435) was a Chinese mariner, explorer, diplomat, fleet admiral, and court eunuch during China's early Ming dynasty. He was originally born as Ma He in a Muslim family and later adopted the surname Zheng conferred by the Yongle Emperor. He commanded expeditionary treasure voyages to Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, Western Asia, and East Africa from 1405 to 1433.

(22) WangJing Hong: Wang Jing-hong: 王景弘 (died c. 1434) was a deputy to Zheng He on his treasure voyages from 1405 to 1433. He led an eighth voyage to Sumatra but is said to have died in a shipwreck on the way. He was buried at Semarang in Java aged 78.

(23) Hou Xian: Hou-Hsien: Eunuch who travelled with Zheng he but also on inland missions. (Bengal, Tibet, Nepal).

(24) Kun Lun Shang: Death Kunlun Mountains (Mythical)

(25) Bing Tong Long Kingdom: Bao tong long guo 宝童龙国 (also 賓童龍 Bin tong long) Panduranga (Phanrang in Vietnam)

(26) Zheng Da Kingdom: Zhen la guo            真腊国 Cambodia

(27) Jia Ma Li Ding: this might be the Arab name: Jamal al Din.

(28) Bang Ke Ci: Bang ge ci (Bengal).
