The Jami in Mogadishu
(1) Shafi'i school: founded by Mohammed bin Idris Shafi'i: (767–820 CE) was an Arab Muslim theologian, writer, and scholar, who was the first contributor of the principles of Islamic jurisprudence. His legacy on juridical matters and teaching eventually led to the formation of Shafi'i school of fiqh.
(2) Faqih: A Faqih is an expert in fiqh (Jurist).
(3) Kalgur: in Ethiopia.

After that, Ahmad ibn Matrub al-Habasi, a learned faqih had in Du Asraq close to Ibb, among his disciples, a certain Ahmad ibn Al-Mazakban from the island of Maqdisu (Mogadishu) in the land of the Blacks….
Another safitische (1) faqih (2), Yusuf b. Abdallah al-Muzakki, was the mudarris (teacher) in Kalguer (3), also in the land of Habash (north Somalia)
This small anecdote about a student of a safitisch faqih coming from Mogadishu is important as it is among the first mentions of the town. The next one is Yakut (1220).
