 經傳島夷雜誌云崑崙層期國常有大鵬

 　飛則遮日能食駱駝有人拾得鵬翅截其

 　管作水桶鯤言大不知幾千里鵬言背不

   北冥南冥非泛言北海南海乃海之南北
　極處以其廣遠杳冥故曰冥鯤爾雅云凡
　魚之子總名鯤故内則卵醬讀作鯤魯語
　亦曰魚禁鯤鮞皆以鯤爲魚子莊子乃以
　至小爲至大此便是滑稽之開端鵬不載

　經傳島夷雜誌云崑崙層期國常有大鵬
　飛則遮日能食駱駝有人拾得鵬翅截其
　管作水桶鯤言大不知幾千里鵬言背不
　知幾千里質之大者化益大也怒而飛鼓
　怒作勢方能起也海運則將徙於南冥者
　運動也颶將起則海氣動故徙以避之魯
　語曰爰居止於魯東門之外三日展禽曰
　今兹海其有灾乎夫廣川之鳥獸皆知避
　其災是歲海多大風冬煖是其事也天池
　者海水際天處猶日浴咸池之池池爲魚

Note: Kunlun ceng-qi the Peng bird can pick up a camel and fly away, if one cuts the wings of the bird you can make a bucket from the tube: Kunlun ceng-qi = Madagascar. Peng bird = Rukh bird = Aepyornis maximus of Madagascar. This text is repeated in the first three lines of each of the two pages of text given of this poem. That the tube of the feathers of the Roc bird are big enough to be used as buckets is found in: Buzurg ibn Shahriyar (955); Li Kung-Lin (d1106); Chou Ch'u-fei (1178); Ch'en Yuan-Ching (late12 century); Chao Ju-Kua (1226); Ibn Said al Maghribi (1250); Luo Miandao (fl. ca. 1270); Marco Polo (1295); Al-Dimashqi (1325); Chou Chih-Chung (1366); Ning Xian Wang (1430); Ibn Al Wardi (1456); Alf layla wa Layla (15th); Wang Khi (1609).
