Putting coins in standard strings.
The annual revenue from the sea-ships, derived from tusks, horns, pearls, incense, etc., was, during the
Huang-yu period (A. D. 1046 — 1053), a little more than 530,000 strings of cash, and during the Chih-ping :
period (A. D. 1064—1067), it increased by 100,000 strings and after the revival of the dynasty,( i. e. during
the South Sung), the annual revenue amounted to 2,000,000 strings.
In February of the fourth year of Dazhong Xiangfu (1011) (1); Dashi (Arabs) bring elephant tusks as tribute,
beautiful embroidery, coloured glassware, bottled perfume, elephant tusks.
