I advanced towards the south to a place where I did not see our Arctic pole, and I saw the Antarctic pole in height of about 24 degrees. I did not proceed from this place, but merchants and credible men continued their way towards the south to a place where they said that the Antarctic pole had a height of 54 degrees.
